The one that started it all...

My mom will always pop into my head when I explain the one food that started my health journey - liver. She used to make this for us, saying "It's so good for you," but I remember it was not appetizing at all. That changed when I realized it is the most nutrient-dense food there is.
Liver is an important organ because it helps digest our food, store nutrients, and filter and detoxify our blood. It contains all our essential vitamins and minerals that are readily available for our bodies to use. Vitamins such as B12, A, B2, B9, iron, and choline. Liver is also high in protein which aids in building muscle and preserving muscle during weight loss.
When I spoke with my accountability coach about nutrition, this was the first thing he recommended. At this point, I needed a change and thought I would give it a try. I started with his recommended "liver shot" which was juice and a scoop of Argentine grass-fed beef liver powder combined with cod liver oil. Disgusting at first, but you get use to it after taking it a couple of days. Once I added this to my diet, I noticed an increase in energy and felt stronger during my lifting sessions. Another option for taking in your daily dose of liver is taking liver capsules. I find these extremely convenient when I'm traveling and can't take a bag of liver powder with me. These are the ones I use: Perfect Multi-Organs. Quality is important and you want to opt for meat and organs that come from pasture-raised animals. This means that these animals were raised out in the pastures without hormones and antibiotics making their meat higher in nutrients.
Ditch the fake vitamin tablets and eat animal organs to feed your body with the bioavailable nutrients your body craves. I will forever be grateful my mom introduced this to our diet and even more grateful it came up again in my health journey because it was the missing piece in my overall health and wellness picture. Let me know if you try it out!
