It's coffee!

I love a cup of black coffee in the morning. Iced in the summer and warm in the winter, coffee is a great jump start for the day ahead. It's now become part of the most important meal for me -- breakfast. For breakfast, my goal is to get in as much protein as I can so I stay full until lunch and reduce the amount of snacking during the day.

When I first tried this, I was pleasantly surprised at how great it tasted. It was nice, light, frothy, and packed with protein. My accountability coach, now boyfriend, concocted this recipe and I now have it everyday. So what is in this coffee that makes it nutrient dense? It's egg yolks and collagen.

Eggs are a great source of protein, however, the egg yolks are where the nutrients are at. The egg yolk contains about 15.9 g protein and contains high amounts of vitamin A, D, E, and K. The quality of the egg yolk matters and we always opt for yolks from pasture-raised hens. This means the hens were raised out in the pasture, have not been given antibiotics, and are not fed soy/corn feed. The egg yolk is important for brain health as well since it contains high amounts of choline which is needed for regulating nervous tissue and cell membranes.

On top of the milk and egg yolks, grass-fed collagen is also added to the coffee. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and is important for your skin, bones, and skeletal muscle. Ensuring an adequate intake of collagen through diet can contribute to maintaining muscle health and overall physical performance, making it a key factor for individuals seeking to maintain muscle strength and flexibility.

I hope you guys give this a try! It's now a part of my daily morning routine and an easy breakfast to put together. A huge thanks to Ash for this recipe because we all love a simple breakfast.
